Community Event Days

Valu Home Centers is proud to be part of the local communities by holding "Community Event Days." Community Event Day is an excellent way to promote community involvement. Each of our neighborhood stores contacts a local organization which holds a hot dog barbecue outside the entrance of our stores to raise money for their group. This event is held on a busy Saturday to provide the opportunity to solicit as many customers as possible. This is a big event for all Valu Home Centers locations which is advertised in our weekly ad.

The organizations that typically get involved are boy scouts, girl scouts, local fire and police departments, youth groups, churches, local SPCA’s, and high school groups. Each group comes from the community in which the store is located - so the money stays in that community. Some groups sell hot dogs and soda, some also hold a bake-sale, some have gotten as fun as having a "Pie the Manager Day," and a "Dunk Tank"!

Our first Community Event Day was held in 1999. Since then we’ve helped to raise over $110,000 with the help of our generous Valu Home Centers’ customers. This is Valu Home Centers way of giving back to the communities that have supported us. Look for the next Community Event Day in our weekly print ad.
