This year's Habitat for Humanity promotion runs from June 22, 2008through August 2, 2008. During this time our cashiers will ask you to make a $1 donation to Habitat for Humanity which will automatically enter you into our sweepstakes. We would like to thank all of our valued customers for making the 2007 Habitat For Humanity promotion a tremendous success. On Monday, August 13th, Valu Home Centers presented a check totaling $171,515.00 to Ron Talboys, president of Habitat for Humanity Buffalo. The money will be divided amount the 15 Habitat Affiliates where Valu Home Centers is located. The money collected from each store will stay in that area to help build or rehabilitate homes for worthy families.

Since 1993, Valu Home Centers has held an annual six-week fund raising campaign that benefits Habitat for Humanity.

To date we have raised $2,179,147.00 for Habitat, with every dollar returning to the community where it was collected, benefiting 15 different Habitat for Humanity chapters. Nationally, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a program committed to providing adequate housing for lower income families.

The "Habitat Sweepstakes" portion of the campaign encourages customers to donate one dollar to Habitat. With each dollar donation customers are automatically entered into drawing for one of five $1,000 Valu shopping sprees or the grand prize, a new automobile.
